Home » What To Do In A Crisis

A mental health crisis is when certain behaviors (a) prevent someone from functioning or (b) indicate they might harm themselves or others.

These situations often feel overwhelming and your coping skills aren’t as effective when it comes to reducing your distress. When this happens, you might find yourself in one of the following scenarios:

  • you are unable to take care of yourself.
  • you have worsened symptoms of preexisting mental health conditions.
  • you think about or attempt to harm yourself.
  • you think about or attempt to harm others.

If you are currently experiencing a mental health crisis you can call the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline by texting or dialing 988 on your phone.
